Dancefloor Magic vol. 9

Let's boogie on down, as we do each Saturday and have a listen to some dancefloor magic.

This one was tough to get a hold of, and it's only a 128 download so if anyone has a direct vinyl rip link or anything please get on to me. I'm gonna head into Records in Lewisham (London) in a while and dig through crates ...who knows, might find it somewhere! Either way, it's an absolute gem of a tune, snarling bubblegum garage pop! Kasenetz-Katz Singing Orchestral Circus were a 46 person supergroup brought together by Super K Productions, read more at Wikipedia.

I will be completely honest, my knowledge on The Temptations is lacking, but I intend to have that rectified post haste. Papa Was A Rolling Stone was originally written for a Motown act called The Undisputed Truth in 1971, but it failed to make much of an impact on the charts. In 1973, this full 12 minute version was recorded by The Temptations, taking it to number 1 in the US Charts and winning three Grammy Awards. A completely hypnotic listen, a sonic journey if you will and depending on the night, a gem to throw down on the decks (not to mention a trip to the toilet, bar and out back for a smoke with enough time for a boogie to the final few minutes)

I love dropping a little hip hop. Here's a track that's as old as I am, a genuine rap classic. If you're partying on down tonight, stay safe and have fun;)
